Ross Bailes earns Sunshine Nationals prelim victory in 2026 debut
Kicking off his 2026 race season, Ross Bailes teamed up with Johnny Pursley Racing once again and made the long drive down to Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) for the Sunshine Nationals.
With over 100 Crate Racin' USA entries on site, Ross laid down the quickest lap in his qualifying group and raced to the checkered flag in his preliminary feature on Thursday. He earned $1,500 for his efforts. Bailes then finished fifth in a prelim race on Friday which set him up for the third-row in Saturday's finale.
Ross started fifth and finished sixth in the $10,000 feature event.
