Ross Bailes steals Ultimate SE victory in closing laps at Ultimate Motorsports & RV Park
Making his fifth-start behind the wheel of the Joey Malone-owned No. 87 machine, Ross Bailes invaded Ultimate Motorsports & RV Park (Elkin, N.C.) on Saturday afternoon for the $7,500-to-win Ultimate Southeast Series event.
With an impressive 30-car field on hand, Bailes stopped the clock third-quickest in his qualifying group which automatically locked him into the evening's main event. Starting his charge from sixth just before halfway of the 50-lap feature, Ross found himself in prime position with a handful of laps to go. Taking advantage on a late restart, Bailes snuck under race-long leader Jordan Koehler with just two laps remaining. Ross pocketed a $7,500 payday and secured his first triumph of the 2024 season.
