Bailes begins 2022 season at Golden Isles Speedway

Ross Bailes kicked off his 2022 season on Thursday evening aboard the Billy Hicks-owned No.79 Late Model at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) season opener. With 47 Late Models entered for the Super Bowl of Racing, Bailes clocked in fifth-fastest in his group before placing fourth in his heat. On Friday night, Ross followed up a fourth-place finish in his heat with a second-place finish in his B-Main. Starting the $12,000-to-win A-Main in 21st, Bailes carried a steady pace throughout the 40-lapper to finish 21st.

For the finale on Saturday, Bailes’ sixth-place finish in his heat relegated him into the B-Main for one final shot at the finale. Slated to start in seventh, Ross was a scratch from the 10-lap consolation event.
