Broken driveshaft while leading at Cherokee

Tuesday night found Ross Bailes in action at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) for the Prelude to the Finals. With preliminary results lining him up on the pole for the $7,500-to-win A-Main, Ross shot out to a comfortable lead and paced the field for the first 24 circuits until a broken driveshaft ended his night immediately. He was credited with a 12th-place finish.
