Bailes attends North/South weekend at Florence Speedway

Behind the wheel of the Lamm Autosports No. 1 Late Model, Ross Bailes invaded Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) on Wednesday night for the 34th annual Ralph Latham Memorial. With 53 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries registered in for action, Bailes fell short of a transfer position in his heat with a seventh place finish, sending him into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature. On Thursday afternoon for the North/South Shootout, Ross followed up the seventh fastest time in his group with a fifth place finish in his heat. Needing a second place finish or better in his B-Main to make the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Bailes came two spots short with a fourth place finish.

With a pair of heat races on Friday evening setting the grid for the North/South 100 on Saturday, Bailes passed seven cars in his first heat come home third. After Mother Nature postponed the second round to Saturday afternoon, Ross slipped back to a sixth place outing, which put him 16th overall in passing points.

Starting Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 in 16th, Ross rebounded to finish 17th after visiting the infield hot pit several times throughout the 100-lapper.
